Free Phone Consultation

During this 15-minute phone consultation, we will discuss briefly why you are seeking therapy.  Research shows that most people feel some relief just by taking the initiaive to make this first call.  (973) 854-7227

Initial Assessment

I will learn why you want professional support in your life. We will talk about your goals for therapy and together we will create a treatment plan. As we continue to meet, I’ll ask questions, listen to your feelings and thoughts, give feedback, make suggestions, and share information/resources. I allow for an hour and 15 minutes for this assessment.

Individual Sessions

Together we will explore what brings you in for therapy, what changes you would like to see made in your life, and  your goals for treatment. We will explore how your past informs your present, but you will learn tools to make active changes to improve your future.  Individual therapy sessions run 45 minutes and appointments are usually scheduled on a weekly basis.   As we continue to discuss your goals for treatment, which may change over time, we will adjust frequency accordingly.  It is important to develop a rapport and trust, so weekly therapy should be expected in the beginning.

Couples Counseling

Are you having difficulty communicating your needs or feeling heard in your relationships?  Do you feel picked on?  Are you having the same arguments repeatedly without feeling you are making progress? Couples counseling is generally based on a shorter-term model of therapy and you should expect changes to occur more quickly than in long-term therapy. You will learn tools and practice exercises during the therapy sessions, as well as at home, to foster better relationships as quickly as possible. It is important to me that each partner feels supported and heard both during sessions and at home.  Sessions run 1 hour.

Family Therapy

Are you feeling overwhelmed at home?  Do you feel that your children are more in charge than you would like?  Is your family struggling with the impact of a shared trauma, such as separation or loss?  Family therapy is designed to change how your family functions and to shift the power in the family back to the parents.  I use fun activities so that the children make lasting changes.  Sessions run 1 hour.

Play Therapy

Why are some children more resilient than others?  I make therapy fun for children to help them manage their stress, anxiety, sadness, and to help them gain confidence.  Parents will learn tools to motivate their children to continue making positive changes.
